Chicago band Dastardly has to be one of the more unique acts in the area. In a scene full of loud rockers, bopping DJs, and up and coming hip hop acts, Dastardly’s indie folk/alt-country stands out like a golden thumb. On their new album May You Never you will not find one song about loyal dogs or tractors. Instead the seven song album is chock full of songs about creeping through the shadows, being lost in a world of pretty rockers and weird underground musicians, and the sadness around being “born in traffic.” We sat down with Dastardly to gain some insight into their sound and got a chance to hear them play their single “Creepy.” With some awesome sweaters.
Dastardly is playing their CD release show for May You Never at Schubas, December 9 with Glittermouse, Chaperone, and Jared Bartman. Tickets are on sale now for $6 on Schubas’ website.
