The Avengers trailer debuts today

I should’ve spent this morning at work doing work things such as typing furiously, answering emails, and perhaps meeting quotas. Instead I watched the new Avengers trailer five times and messaged all my comic book friends for about a hour and a half. Comic fans have been anxiously awaiting The Avengers since it’s conception was announced around the time Iron Man came out. Where DC has the Justice League, Marvel has the Avengers. Though DC has talked about making a Justice League movie for almost 5 years now it’s never happened. They even had the film fully cast but they still couldn’t get it off the ground. There hasn’t been a modern comic book movie where superheroes collide into one super group.

Enter The Avengers. We’ve got Thor, Captain America, the Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and Nic Fury’s agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fighting together. As a verified DC fan I even have to admit when it comes to movies, Marvel has their shit together. For The Avengers they roped in all of the actors from their respective superhero films (minus Edward Norton of course for the Hulk. Mark Ruffalo took his place and the little of him you see in the trailer, he looks excellent). They got Marvel writer/nerd God Joss Whedon to write and direct the film. AND the best part, they got an all-encompassing evil bad ass who may or may not be Loki to unite the heroes together to fight evil and what not. Take a look at the trailer below and see for yourself:

Now we just have to make it to May 2012…
