Arcade Fire to release deluxe edition of The Suburbs

Arcade Fire’s Grammy-winning album The Suburbs (you know, the one that made everyone who wasn’t cool ask “Who the hell is Arcade Fire?”) is being re-released this August with some major swag added on to it. The new deluxe CD/DVD edition of The Suburbs will include a longer version of the track “Wasted Hours (A Life That We Can Live)” and two previously unreleased tracks (“Culture War” and “Speaking In Tongues”), the latter of which features David Byrne on backing vocals. The DVD portion will feature Spike Jonze’s short Scenes From the Suburbs and its companion documentary Behind the Scenes From the Suburbs, and the music video for “The Suburbs.” Already sounds cool right? Well the girls and boys in Arcade Fire wanted to add even more cool things for their fans. To round out the package the deluxe edition is accompanied with an 80 page booklet with lyrics and pictures taken during Jonze’s shoot.

The Suburbs deluxe edition comes out August 2 on Merge. You can pre-order the album through Merge’s website.
