Rubik’s Cube movie. Yep.

As the title would imply, somebody somewhere decided that the upcoming cinematic adaptations of popular board games Battleship and Monopoly weren’t enough, so now we’re going to get a film about that most vexing of all brain teasers, the Rubik’s Cube.

Now, you might be wondering exactly how in the hell one would go about writing a 90-minute film about a puzzle box. According to Joblo, “rumor has it the film would center around some sort of Rubik’s Cube competition…” Somehow, I was moved to think of the endings of both The Karate Kid and Over The Top, which led to the mental image of Sylvester Stallone hugging his son to the tune of “You’re The Best Around.” I think that makes for a far more interesting film premise already.

The film is merely in development right now, but we’ll be sure to keep you abreast of any new developments. In the meantime, enjoy Michel Gondry solving one such cube with his feet:
